During college, I've learned the most while working in collaborative settings. Group projects can often be difficult, but they have allowed me to grow in my ability to communicate and hold myself accountable while working with others. As I have taken on more group projects, I've learned to appreciate the significance of working well with others to produce great results.
One group project that I learned a lot from was an international business project in which I worked with students from a university in Italy. We were not only trying to learn about each other's academic courses but had to overcome the obstacles of different time zones, schedule times to work together, and communicate with each other while being in separate environments. This project allowed me to grow in time management and made me more organized, proactive, and diligent in how I communicated with my group mates.
I have learned that effective collaboration is more than splitting up a task. It requires one to understand other people's perspectives and work with them to reach a goal. Some ways to do this are by being open-minded, flexible, and respecting others' ideas. Not only will this allow you to work well with others but help you to learn from them and produce quality work.
In the future, I hope to use collaboration in the workplace. In the medical device sales field, it will be crucial to collaborate with others. There will be times where I will have to work with my coworkers or clients to complete tasks.
