In recent years I have begun to pinpoint what career would be best fit for my strengths and work style. What I have learned from my classes and previous work experiences is that my ideal job consists of communication, building relationships, and working in a high-paced, goal-oriented environment. This is what initially sparked my interest in medical sales.
What I find most appealing about this career is that it focuses on knowing your product and being able to articulate your knowledge to others. My customer-facing job and group projects have taught me how vital it is to listen to others, adapt, and gain trust. I have always enjoyed jobs that allow me to work with others and be in a communication-based environment. Medical sales allow me to do both of those things.
I love that the industry is very competitive and driven by performance. I like being in situations where you input effort and see the results of your hard work. Also, I like to know that as I continue to work harder, there will be more room for me to grow. Another part of this job that I look forward to is the learning factor. Once again, I love learning about the product you are working with. Also, since medicine is constantly growing and changing, I will have to continuously learn about new technology to stay knowledgeable about what I’m selling.
I hope to one day secure an entry-level medical-sales job where I can expand on my skills and knowledge. I am looking for opportunities where I can build meaningful relationships, work in a fast-paced environment, and continue to grow in a competitive and performance based field.
